7. 1947 NBA Finals: Warriors win their first championship in franchise history

The first season in NBA history began in 1946 and saw a total of 11 teams compete. The Eastern Conference was home to six teams while the West contained just five. Of these teams were the Philadelphia Warriors, the first rendition of the Warriors franchise.

Playing for this Warriors team were a number of players who have gone on to be lost in NBA history. The most notable of which was Joe Fulks, who was a two-time NBA All-Star and led the league in scoring once. Fulks did go on to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

In the NBA’s first season ever, Fulks averaged a league-high 23.2 points and helped bring the Warriors to a 35-25 record. This made the Dubs the second best team in their division.

Fulks would continue his regular season success in the playoffs by also leading all scorers in the postseason as well. The Warriors coursed through the first two rounds of the playoffs, losing only one game.

In the final round, the Dubs were matched up against the Chicago Stags. The Stags did not have one singular star on their team but rather a mix of talented role players. In the end, Fulks dominated the series with nearly 30 points per game and helped bring the Warriors a championship trophy.
