6.2013 Western Conference First Round: The Sixth-seeded Warriors beat the Denver Nuggets

Once again looking back at the 2012-13 season for the Warriors and we are reminiscing how the Dubs pulled off an inspiring upset.

As previously stated, this season was a big one for Stephen Curry. At this point, he was well on his way to becoming an NBA superstar. However, this series helped show how good the entire team was going to be in the near future.

Heading into this matchup, the Warriors were ranked three seeds lower than the Denver Nuggets. Despite this, the team did not feel like they were outmatched as the Nuggets were not a very threatening top seed.

The Nuggets were an interesting team. They were extremely balanced and had a total of six different players average double digits in scoring this season. Their lack of star power would prove to be the difference maker in this series.

Golden State received huge contributions from Curry, Jarrett Jack, Harrison Barnes and Klay Thompson. The entire team made big-time clutch shots throughout the series and put pressure on the star-less Nuggets.

Curry scored 30 points in two of the final five games of this series, helping to lift Golden State past the Nuggets. Barnes and Thompson both had strong series as well, giving the Dubs a brief look into the future success they would soon experience.
