2. 2016 Western Conference Finals: Warriors complete 3-1 comeback

Enter the iconic 2015-16 NBA season. The Golden State Warriors had won a regular season record 73 games and had the first-ever unanimous MVP on their team. As the playoffs begin, the Dubs are the heavy favorite to win the NBA Finals.

Now fast forward to the Conference Finals. The Dubs are going against an Oklahoma City Thunder team that is desperate for another trip to the NBA Finals. Former MVP, Kevin Durant, and future MVP, Russell Westbrook, are finally both healthy and ready to compete with any team.

Throw in the fact that OKC has a big size advantage due to Enes Kanter and Steven Adams, and this series becomes very interesting. It didn’t take long for the Thunder to jump out to a commanding 3-1 lead, pinning the Warriors in a tight corner.

Playing in front of their home crowd for Game 5 gave the Warriors an easy pass to extend the series. However, a game 6 on the road would be an insanely difficult task. Had it not been for Klay Thompson exploding for an NBA playoff record 11 3-pointers for 31 points, the Warriors might have lost this one.

Of course, coming back home for Game 7 gave the Dubs momentum once again. Curry reminded everyone why he is a two-time MVP by scoring 36 points and shooting 7-of-12 from the 3-point line.

Meanwhile, the stars of OKC were faltering under the pressure. Westbrook and Durant played miserably in the final two games as the Warriors completed an impressive 3-1 comeback.

As we all now know, this series had a massive impact on the landscape of the NBA. After losing this series, Durant would elect to join the Warriors in the Summer and create the superteam that we see in Oakland today.
