14. 1989 Western Conference Semifinals: Chris Mullin explodes in Game 2

The 1988-89 season marked the second most successful season of the decade for the Warriors and also just the second time they had made the playoffs since 1977. Winning 43 games in the regular season, the Dubs managed to secure the seventh-best record in the Western Conference.

After pulling off a huge upset over the two-seed Utah Jazz (more on that later), the Warriors found themselves pinned up against Tom Chambers and the Phoenix Suns. Chambers was right in the middle of his prime seasons and had a great supporting cast around him consisting of Kevin Johnson and Eddie Johnson (not related).

Obviously, the Warriors were major underdogs heading into this series. When the Suns destroyed the Dubs in a 130-103 Game 1 victory, it looked like this matchup was over before it even finished, however, Chris Mullin had other plans.

Mullin was a key component to the Warriors recent success and he was determined to help get his team to the next round of the playoffs. In Game 2, Mullin erupted for 37 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks. Mullin was helped by his teammate Mitch Richmond, who scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

This performance helped the Dubs win Game 2 on the road. Unfortunately, this ended up being their only win of the series. Mullin finished the postseason averaging a career-best 29.4 points per game.
