Admiral Schofield

In CBS Sports recent first-round mock draft, writer Reid Forgrave has the Golden State Warriors taking a senior forward, a player that’s exactly what Golden State targeted in the last few years, and he absolutely hits the nail on the head with this pick.

Forgrave has the Warriors taking Admiral Schofield, and there may not be a player that fits the Golden State Warriors’ draft needs any better.

More from Blue Man Hoop

"Strong, versatile and a fantastic 3-point shooter, Schofield has a lot of the attributes today’s NBA teams are looking for. He’s tough and physical, and can score the ball in a multitude of ways. Schofield would be ready to contribute to a winning team immediately — one reason why the Warriors would be a smart fit."

The Warriors, when it comes to the small forward position, will be looking to potentially replace Kevin Durant. Even if Durant stays, they’ll need to eventually find a replacement for Andre Iguodala who will be a free agent following the 2019-2020 season and could potentially retire.

Schofield, an experience collegiate player, finished his senior season averaging 16.5 points per game. The fact that Schofield hit 2.0 threes per game on over 41% from behind the arc is arguably more impressive for the gritty 6-foot-6 forward.

Playing alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Schofield’s ability to open up the court with his shooting would be ideal. This is a likely pick for Golden State given how frontcourt-heavy their recent drafts have been.

The Warriors aren’t going to get a superstar with this pick, but they can get a player moldable enough to get in their system and become a star. Schofield is that player.
