Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have a similar story to that of the Oklahoma City Thunder. We know the potential is there: we’ve seen the potential. However, time and time again, this team proves that they might not have what it takes to be the league’s best.

For Boston, in order to take down Golden State and be a true threat to their three-peat, they’d need to get through an Eastern Conference that is night and day better than last season. That’ll be a tall task alone for Boston.

They do, in fact, have all the pieces to take down Golden State. With a superstar, bucket-getting point guard in Kyrie Irving and numerous players that can take over the game, the Celtics, behind a thriving Gordon Hayward, have found a way to become a threat once again.

The Celtics are one of the few teams that rank in the top-15 in both defensive efficiency and points per game. They do so behind arguably the league’s most underrated big man in Al Horford and a defensive menice in Marcus Smart.

Altogether, the Celtics may be a threat to the East, but they aren’t a top threat to the throne.
