Golden State Warriors: Handing out end-of-the-year team awards
Sixth Man of the Year
The X-factor for the Golden State Warriors is Andre Iguodala.
Since he comes off the bench and is such a high-impact player for the Dubs, he’s our Sixth Man of the Year, an important award around the league. League-wide, it’ll likely be Lou Williams winning the award.
By his standards, Iguodala is having one of the worst seasons of his career. He’s averaging a career-low 5.7 points per game. The 35-year-old isn’t playing as much as he’s used to and certainly hasn’t been as productive as he should be.
However, when he is on the court, the Warriors are a significantly better team. They’re 9.4 points per 100 possessions better than their opponent with Iggy on the court and 4.4 points better with him on the court than with him off.
On top of that, with Iggy more involved, they’re a better team as well. In the 11 games in which Iggy’s totaled five or more assists, the Warriors are 10-1, losing only to the Toronto Raptors on the road.
Iguodala being the Sixth Man of the Year for the Warriors was one of the easiest decisions for our team awards.
