Golden State Warriors: Handing out end-of-the-year team awards
Disappointment of the Year
The second and last BHM-specific award is the Disappointment of the Year.
Draymond Green and his lackluster shooting have won that award. This season, Green’s number have dropped significantly. It’s not just his scoring though. If it were, he wouldn’t be winning this award.
We’d understand if his scoring took a hit with the acquisition of yet another superstar. It’s everything. Green’s per game average in rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and points have all been the three-time All-Star’s lowest over the past four seasons.
That’s not even the worst part. Green’s biggest disappointment has been his three-point shooting. From averaging almost 40% from behind the arc during the 2015-2016 season, Green has trended downward the past few seasons and will likely end this season shooting under 30% from three.
All his numbers could’ve dropped, and I still wouldn’t have said Green didn’t live up to his expectations. But, when his efficiency took a sizeable hit, it was time to consider this season a disappointment for the former Defensive Player of the Year.
