The Golden State Warriors answered fans’ wishes when they donned the classic “We Believe” jerseys for the final regular season game at Oracle Arena.

All season long the Golden State Warriors have made it their goal to pay homage to Oracle Arena and the city of Oakland as a whole.

For 47 seasons “Roaracle” and its fans have stood by their Warriors through the highs and lows (emphasis on the lows). Though the playoffs are still around the corner, Sunday night marked the final Oracle regular season game.

Come next season, the Warriors will move across the Bay as they open the brand new Chase Center in San Francisco. But before that happens, Golden State has another championship run on their mind, and they want to honor the city of Oakland simultaneously.

Against the Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State gave Dub Nation the wish they secretly have been longing for: they donned the classic “We Believe” jerseys in the final regular-season outing at Oracle.

The crowd went ecstatic as Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and company tossed away their pre-game warmups to unveil the classic jerseys that became famous for the eighth-seeded Warriors historic 4-2 upset over the top seed Dallas Mavericks back in the 2007 playoffs. The last appearance of the jerseys was back in Curry’s rookie year.

Curry has made it a personal mission to honor the great players that have called Oracle home by wearing throwback jerseys for the final home games, but it was a great sight to see that the Warriors, along with the assistance of jersey manufacturer Nike, joining along in paying homage to the team’s history.

The homage shouldn’t end Sunday night, however, it would be great to honor the 47 seasons spent in Oakland and Oracle through next season and beyond.

Most NBA teams have a throwback uniform through each season, and that should still ring true next year for the Warriors. Over the past few seasons, Golden State has worn uniforms such as “The City” and “San Francisco.”

But next season when the Chase Center becomes their home, it would be fitting for these We Believe jerseys to become their throwback jerseys for the year, perhaps even as a permanent fixture.

The fans have made Oracle known as “Roaracle” for a reason, and have stood by their team no matter the circumstances. Even as we are in the midst of the NBA’s newest dynasty, one should not forget the history that led to this point. And for 47 seasons of struggles and achievements, that history resided in Oakland, California.

The We Believe jerseys are a testament to the rise of the Warriors dynasty that we have come to know, and their place in Golden State history should not be forgotten, instead, they should be recognized.

Do the right thing, and make these classic jerseys a permanent fixture and reminder of Warriors history that should not be forgotten.
