The top-seeded Golden State Warriors will take on the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

It’s official: The Golden State Warriors will take on the LA Clippers in the West’s first round. This was, by far, the best matchup for the Warriors as the battle for the sixth through eight seeds in the West continued till the last day of the regular season.

The Clippers won their season finale, yet it didn’t matter. Since the OKC Thunder ended with a better record and the Spurs ended with the tiebreaker of LAC, the Clippers were stuck with the West’s last seed and consequently will take on the reigning champions.

In head-to-head matchups, the Warriors were 3-1 against the Clippers with two 10-plus point blowouts. However, as the Warriors have proven over the last few seasons, regular season matchups don’t mean all too much when it comes to postseason performance.

This team will be ready on April 13 to start their quest for their third straight NBA title, and it’ll start with LAC. After claiming the West’s top seed, the Dubs will likely be the favorite to sit atop the NBA yet again.

As for Los Angeles, offensively, the Dubs will be focused on shutting down Lou Williams. It’s abnormal sounding saying that the Dubs will have to eye a player not even in the starting lineup; however, Williams is certainly the Clippers most lethal scoring threat.

Danilo Gallinari and Montrezl Harrell are a couple of other names to keep an eye on. Patrick Beverley and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will also play a huge role as they’ll be tasked with guarding the league’s best backcourt in Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.

Overall, the Golden State Warriors will hopefully sweep the Clippers. As the top seed, they’re clearly the better team, and with three 2019 All-Stars leading the way, this first round will be a disappointment if they aren’t able to sweep the LA Clippers.

The Dubs will hopefully blaze through the first round and secure the extra rest for what could be a lengthy and difficult last few rounds of the postseason.
