The Golden State Warriors have taken a 1-0 lead over the Los Angeles Clippers behind Stephen Curry’s record-breaking performance.

Stephen Curry is making his case for the greatest shooter of all-time every day. As Curry begins to shatter records, the argument for him being the best point guard in NBA history continues to grow. His Game 1 performance versus the Los Angeles Clippers was just another example of this.

It’s always important to open a playoff series with a statement. That is exactly what Curry and the Golden State Warriors decided to do. While the game was relatively close through the first half, Curry took charge in the third quarter.

Much like the Dubs usually do, the team went on a big run in the third quarter to give themselves a comfortable lead. This run was highlighted by a cold-blooded pull-up 3-pointer by Curry. In fact, Curry should have gone to the line on that shot as he took a ton of contact on the lower body when rising up for his shot.

Curry finished the game with 38 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. This made Curry the second player in NBA history to record 15+ rebounds and make 8 3-pointers in the same game (James Harden had 16 rebounds and 9 3-pointers in 2016). However, Curry stands alone as the only player to ever accomplish this in the NBA Playoffs.

The records didn’t stop there for Curry. With his 7th 3-pointer of the night, Curry tied Ray Allen for first on the all-time Playoff 3-pointer list. Of course, he would pass Allen with his next shot from deep. Curry accomplished all of this while playing in 80 fewer games than Allen.

Behind this amazing performance, the Dubs coasted to an easy victory over the Clippers. While LAC showed some serious heart during the game, it should be a quick series for the Dubs as they move one step closer to capturing their third consecutive NBA championship.
