Kevin Durant isn’t surprised by anything Stephen Curry does on the court anymore. However, fans should still marvel at his wonders.

It’s almost time for Game 2, but that doesn’t mean we can’t recognize the greatness that was on display by Stephen Curry in Game 1. After all, his own superstar teammate, Kevin Durant said that he expects that kind of performance at this point.

Durant was quoted saying: “I expect it at this point. I’m not surprised by anything he does.”

Curry’s stat line was one to marvel at. He put up at a game-high 38 points to go along with a postseason-high eight three-pointers. The insane part comes in when you see that the two-time MVP attempted just 12 shots from deep.

Some of the threes that Curry was taking, and making, were not easy shots. They were leaning, fading or just off a long sprint. These are the types of shots that have made Curry such a unique talent over the past few years.

Not only did he make eight threes, which is the single-game high for the playoffs this far, but with his eighth three, he passed Ray Allen to become the all-time leader in postseason three-pointers made. The Davidson University standout continues to shine on the NBA’s brightest platform.

As fans, it’s our job to bring light to how unique and phenomenal these types of performances truly are. It’s not every day you see a player drop eight threes and score 38 points, especially in the postseason.

There’s only been one player that’s made more than half the threes that Curry did in Game 1. We need to understand the type of greatness that’s on display. And, for the sake of our kids, we need to remember just what these types of performances feel like in the moment.

Curry is a special player.

There may never be another Stephen Curry grace the hardwood. That said, unlike Kevin Durant, we need to not grow to just expect these performances from the league’s greatest shooter of all time.
