Kevin Durant hasn’t leaked anything about his upcoming free agency, and that should be a good sign for the Golden State Warriors.

A top-three player in the NBA hitting the open market creates quite the swirling rumors. That said, Kevin Durant, who is typically considered one of the best in the NBA, will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Let’s just say the media has been all over Durant. KD even knows that the media needs him. They feed off the name of Kevin Durant and how many views a spicy quote on his free agency decision will bring in.

“They need me,” Durant told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Logan Murdock.

Here’s more from Durant as reported by Murdock.

"“If I wasn’t a free agent, none of this s–t would go on, right? None of this speculation about who I am, what’s wrong with my mental, why I’m miserable, why I ain’t happy with life. Nothing.”"

Durant is right. There wouldn’t be conversations about his happiness if he weren’t a free agent this upcoming offseason. Given that Durant really hasn’t said much about his fit in Golden State, there’s no reason to believe he feels uncomfortable with his teammates and the management.

On the court, Durant has been thriving.

Over the last two seasons, Durant has averaged over 26 points per game, and in his most recent season, he notched a career-high in assists per game at 5.9. He’s still a top-10 scorer in the league, and now a capable passer, Durant’s game is reaching new limits.

Finding a new version of himself, Durant has been able to win two, hopefully three, championships and doesn’t seem to mind sharing the spotlight with Stephen Curry either. That said, this time around, he’s got to sit back and critique those that are rushing the forward to a decision, baiting him for quotes on a daily basis.

Durant is going to make the decision to stay or leave in time, but as for now, there’s no indication to believe that Durant’s going to head elsewhere. Golden State is the frontrunner for the world-class forward.
