Two-time MVP Stephen Curry will play in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals after spraining his ankle in the first-round series-ending Game 6.

Stephen Curry has not been gifted with iron ankles.

He’s been forced to miss numerous games throughout his career due to sprained ankles, and in Game 6 against the Clippers, the point guard came up wobbling, a scene that made the entire Bay Area hold their breath.

The sprain won’t hold Curry back from arguably the postseason’s biggest series.

In the opening series, Curry started off red hot, scoring 38 and 29 in Game 1 and 2 respectively. He then scored under 22 points for back-to-back games then closing out the series with two straight 24-point performance.

This Western Conference semifinal will feature the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets, the exact same matchups as the 2018 Western Conference Finals. Curry, in the Warriors four matchups with Houston, hasn’t scored under 24 points, so expect a big series out of him.

Both teams seem eager for a rematch of last season, and each game will be crucial. That said, it would’ve been a huge blow for the Warriors who will have the home court advantage. Dropping an early game at home would not have been ideal.

However, much of the Warriors’ play has been centered around Kevin Durant, not Stephen Curry. While Curry still gets buckets, Durant has been the clear leader over the team’s last three games, scoring 50 points in Game 6.

The Warriors will need both Curry and Durant at the top of their game in order to take down the Houston Rockets. The Rockets are led by James Harden and Chris Paul, two players capable of taking over any and every game in this series.

Like Houston, the Warriors have three players capable of taking over a game. The elite star power in this series will create one of the most entertaining stretches of basketball that we’ll see this postseason.

Ultimately, this series could boil down to health. Let’s just hope Curry’s ankles are fine until at least the end of this series.
