3 adjustments Warriors can make for Game 2 vs. Rockets
By Ryan Ocenada
3. Hang on to the ball
Anyone who has closely watched the Warriors this season probably knows that the team has a tendency to turn the ball over… a lot.
In Game 1, the Warriors turned the ball over 20 times. You read that correctly.
20. Times.
That is more turnovers than they averaged in the regular season (14.3) and more than the team has averaged so far in the playoffs (15.1). Kevin Durant and Draymond Green committed six and five turnovers respectively.
The Warriors play a freewheeling style of offense that emphasizes passing and off-ball movement, so turnovers are a natural side effect. However, 20 turnovers in the playoffs is unacceptable, especially against a team like the Rockets who can turn those mistakes into points.
Turnovers are a feature, not a bug of the Warriors’ offense. If they can keep those miscues down to around their season average, that will help ensure the Warriors get more shots up and limit the Rockets’ attempts.
