Golden State Warriors: The 3 biggest moments through the first 2 games
James Harden’s Game 2 eye laceration
Both Stephen Curry and James Harden left Game 2 early in the first half. That said, it changed the game in Golden State’s favor. Ultimately, they couldn’t build a sustainable lead and allowed Houston a chance to come back in the fourth.
However, Harden, although he dropped 29 points, was bothered by that eye injury all throughout Game 2. Harden was hit by Draymond Green after he missed a floater and scrapped for the rebound.
The Rockets lost this game by six, but the time with Harden on the court is what may have doomed them. Harden played 34 minutes, shooting the ball 19 times. Harden’s seven threes were by far his postseason low. He averages nearly 13 three-point attempts per game.
Coming down to the wire, this game didn’t have many iconic shots. Stephen Curry’s three with around six minutes left that ballooned the lead to six which eventually grew to 12 was vital. Austin Rivers‘ three-point make that brought the game within two possessions was also crucial.
Neither of those were more important than Harden’s eye being lacerated though.
