The New York Post’s Marc Stein is fully confident that the Golden State Warriors All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson is staying put.

For the Golden State Warriors, there’s been no indication that their star guard Klay Thompson will leave when his contract expires this offseason. They were recently reaffirmed of this as the New York Times’ Marc Stein wrote that Thompson “is 100 percent staying.”

Here’s the excerpt of what Stein said about the five-time All-Star.

"I likewise continue to believe that Golden State’s Klay Thompson is 100 percent staying put with the Warriors and will not consider external suitors, Stein wrote."

Thompson is just one of several free agents that’ll be highly coveted this offseason. Kevin Durant, a teammate and fellow Warrior star, will also be at the top of team’s pecking order. However, Durant, like Thompson, hasn’t said much regarding his free agent decision.

For Durant, if Thompson is offered the max, he’d have to take another pay cut.

After being the postseason’s most dominant player to date, it’s not known if that’d sit well with him yet again. At the same time, it seems like it’d be difficult for Durant to turn down a run at the uber-rare four-peat.

As for Thompson, Ramona Shelburne, an NBA Insider for ESPN, said that she doesn’t think Klay will even give the Lakers a meeting this offseason. Being from SoCal, Klay was once rumored to be headed to Los Angeles if Golden State refused to give him a max contract.

At the end of the day, the options for Thompson and Durant are limitless, and overall, there isn’t too much known about what will happen in the next few months. What we do know is that the Warriors will have a much better chance at getting both back if they win their third straight title.

Thompson has been having a career-year, averaging 21.5 points per game. After a significant shooting slump earlier this season, Thompson’s been consistently shooting and scoring well this postseason, including a 32-point performance in Game 4 of the Warriors first-round matchup.

All that to say, Warrior fans need to be thankful for the loyalty of their former lottery picks Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. Even Draymond Green wants to stay a Warrior for life.

This team will be contending for titles for a long time to come.
