The Golden State Warriors have a chance to take a 3-0 lead against the Houston Rockets and they absolutely must stay focused.

This has been a wild season for the Golden State Warriors. Projected to take the league by storm and cruise to a flawless championship, the Dubs have actually endured more adversity than ever before. Injuries and controversy have plagued the season, but now, with a chance to go up 3-0 against the Houston Rockets, it’s time for maximum effort.

The Warriors have already experienced an extended series in Round One against the Los Angeles Clippers. This is a series that went two games further than it should have and it undoubtedly took a physical toll on the team.

Only one positive came from the series against LA and that is the fact that Kevin Durant seems to have a fire lit under him from the constant agony of being defended by Patrick Beverley. Durant has averaged 38.3 points on 52.4 percent shooting in his last six games.

Taking a 3-0 lead over the Rockets would be huge for two reasons. The most obvious being, a win in Game 3 effectively ends the series. Seeing as how the Rockets are likely one of the toughest teams the Warriors will have to face this postseason, a quick series win would do wonders for their confidence and add plenty of momentum moving forward.

While the tension between these two teams and their fans has been high since the series began, it is important to note that both of these squads are extremely talented. That is why it is so crucial Golden State remains focused in Game 3 and takes advantage of their early lead.

Foul trouble and turnovers have been a major problem in this series so far for Golden State. Both of these flaws can be attributed to a lack of focus. With an average of 25.3 fouls and 14.8 turnovers a game, the Dubs must be more careful with their decision making.

Houston has some great players, but they have given us no reason to believe they are mentally tough enough to overcome a 3-0 deficit. Taking Game 3 would basically secure the series for Golden State and ensure they get plenty of rest heading into the Western Conference Finals.
