Rebound better

The Warriors began this series by going small and starting the Death Lineup, but the team did not play small.

Through the first two games, the Warriors have out-rebounded the Rockets 83 to 67. The dominant rebounding numbers led to more possessions and contributed heavily to the Warriors’ victories in the first two games.

That was not the case in Game 3.

The Rockets handily won the battle of the boards by out-rebounding the Warriors 55 to 35. PJ Tucker and Clint Capela combined for 23 rebounds by themselves.

Those extra possessions helped James Harden to get into a rhythm and, perhaps more importantly, kept the ball out of the Warriors’ hands. Durant directly blamed the Warriors’ rebounding woes for the Game 3 loss.

If the Warriors want to swing the momentum back into their favor and take a commanding 3-1 series lead, they will need to get back to doing the dirty work on the boards.
