Game 3 was an intense battle between the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors, but this missed call might have decided the game.

The referees have been a hot topic during this series between the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets. Countless controversies have stemmed from the decision making of the officiating crew and Game 3 was no different.

Houston played an incredible game at home. With their backs against the wall and facing an insurmountable 3-0 deficit, Eric Gordon and James Harden came up big time. Gordon finished with 30 points while Harden poured in 41 of his own, including the dagger shot to put them up by five.

This dagger shot is the one that we need to look at today. Houston held a three-point lead with under 30 seconds to play as Harden drove down the middle of the lane. Much like he did all game, Harden threw up a floater and connected to seal the game.

However, the problem here is that Draymond Green read the play beautifully. Long before the shot went up, Green put himself in percent position to take a charge. Green subsequently took the hit to the chest and drew what should have been an offensive foul.

Instead, the game continued and we got to witness the most embarrassing moment of Stephen Curry‘s career as he blew a wide open dunk. The team’s reaction said it all as the Dubs simply allowed the clock to be run out then sulked back to their locker room.

Obviously, the Warriors wouldn’t have even been put in this position had Curry played up to expectations. Going just 7-for-23 from the field, Curry had one of the worst playoff games his career and was a detriment to his team.

Still, this was a call that should have been easy to make. There’s no telling what would have happened if the Dubs received the ball with a chance to tie the game, but as Harden said himself, we just want a fair chance to play.
