5. Game 3 versus New Orleans Pelicans (2015 First Round)

There isn’t a more perfect way to start this list off than throwing it all the way back to the series that began the Golden State Warriors first championship run.

Jump back to the 2014-15 NBA season. Stephen Curry finished the season averaging 23.8 points, 7.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game en route to capturing his first regular season MVP award. The Warriors had won 67 games and were the top seed in the Western Conference for the first time since 1976.

Despite this, the Warriors were not being seen as huge threats to win an NBA championship. This is for good reason as the team was still very young and unproven. This is why when Game 3 versus the New Orleans Pelicans was in jeopardy, not many viewers were too stunned.

Luckily, Curry wasn’t phased either. However, Curry was calm for a much different reason. In cold-blooded fashion, Steph drilled a heavily contested 3-pointer over two defenders (could have easily been a 4-point play) to tie the game and force overtime.

The Warriors would go on to win the game in overtime and sweep the series. Curry had gotten his first taste of playoff greatness and that clutch shot would be the first of many.
