Reward – His shooting is enough to keep Dubs on top
In late January of 2018, DeMarcus Cousins ruptured his Achilles. Now teammates, Durant most likely suffered a similar injury. Cousins didn’t return to the court till mid-January of 2019. While his injury, given his size, may create a long rehab process, getting back on the court is still a tall task.
The Warriors may see Durant to start the postseason next year, and one reward for their dedication to the forward would be winning what could be their fourth-straight title. Returning Durant, it’s certainly possible.
The Dubs swept the Blazers in the Western Conference Finals. Unless you’re Houston, the Warriors will be able to breeze their way through the series. However, if other teams in the West improve, it could get tricky.
Nonetheless, Durant would likely have a full series or two before his presence is truly needed. Cousins could take 11 months to heal that lower right led and then come back with vengeance, reclaiming his spot as a top-three player in the league.
Durant, even if his athleticism does take a hit, would still thrive as a player. Once scoring over 30 per game, Durant’s combination of efficient scoring and height would bode well for his ability to contribute. His return in the postseason would make Golden State the clear favorite.
