The Warriors main goal this offseason is to limit the impact of Thompson and Durant’s absence. They’ll do so by adding Rudy Gay. He, just like with his scoring, would give Golden State a solid rebounder and playmaker.

At 6-foot-8, Gay should have a few more high-level seasons left. With his size and athleticism, he should have to no problem stepping into Kevin Durant’s power forward role on the death lineup, which Gay would likely thrive in.

The Warriors, outside of Durant and Green, don’t have a player with size to guard multiple positions in the frontcourt and backcourt. Alfonzo McKinnie has proven that he can’t be trusted to guy even second unit point guards.

Gay, a player that at one point averaged 1.7 steals and 1.1 blocks per game, has the size to impact the game on both ends of the court. Add in the fact that he secured a career-high 6.8 rebounds per game last season, and you have a player that’d be the quintessential fit for Kerr’s system.

For Golden State on a limietd budget, it may be value that trumps Kerr’s free agent list. Well, let’s look at how Gay’s contract would yield unmatched value.
