Experience

Rudy Gay has been through it all. Playing on four teams throughout his 13-year career, Gay competed last season under arguably the best coach of all time. Gregg Popovich is a many of many talents, and player development is one of them.

That’s why after Leonard’s exodus Gay was given a large role and then thrived. Pop helped Gay understand his weaknesses and exploited his strengths. Under Pop, Gay turned into a 40% three-point shooter.

Gay has also played in Sacramento, Memphis and Toronto, spending the majority of his career with the Grizzlies. Gay’s been scoring at the highest level for over a decade, averaging over 15 points for a decade straight.

It’s difficult to bring experience to a team that’s been to five-straight Finals, but Gay, who has yet to get past the first round of the playoffs, would likely find himself in new territory if he signed in Golden State.
