Lakers’ Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Clippers’ Reggie Bullock would reportedly take a discount to join the Golden State Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors need players that are willing to sign for the veteran’s minimum but also able to contribute right from the beginning. They may get that help they crave.

Two of those veterans willing to take a discount to play with the decade’s best franchise are Caldwell-Pope and Bullock, per Jordan Brenner of the Athletic (subscription required). They’d both be welcome additions to a backcourt that lacked depth last season.

For Caldwell-Pope, he joined the Lakers last season in hopes to compete for a championship there. That went down the drain and now he’s looking for a new team to find the promise land with.

Golden State is that team.

He’d provide excellent three-point shooting and a quality wing defender.

The greatest thing about Pope’s game is its resemblance to Thompson’s. There wouldn’t be the trouble integrating him into a system set up for a player of his talents. He averaged 11.4 points per game and erupted for 5+ threes in multiple outings.

Running of screens, shooting threes and guarding the teams best defender is exactly what Thompson did, and it’s what Pope could bring as well. That’d be a welcome addition for Golden State.

Secondly, Reggie Bullock, the former Tar Heel guard, could join Golden State.

He averaged a career-high 11.3 points per game last season and neared 38% from downtown. He’s a solid asset to have, and his signing would also be huge for Golden State. That said, these two could completely eradicate the issue of backcourt depth.

The Warriors need the help, and most of all, they need the scoring and capable bodies especially if they sign back both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson. This is a huge development and one to watch closely if your a Warriors fan.

There isn’t much known about other teams that may be targeting the veteran guards because there’s destined to be several competitors, especially if they’re willing to sign for just a few million.
