5. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have made big leaps in their rebuilding process recently. As the success of the Dirk Nowitzki era officially comes to an end, the Mavericks have wasted no time laying down the foundation for their future.

It began when they traded up in the 2018 NBA Draft to give themselves a chance at drafting Luka Doncic. This deal was an instant victory for Dallas as Doncic quickly adjusted to the NBA game. In his rookie season, Doncic averaged 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game en route to likely winning the Rookie of the Year Award.

The rebuild was put into overdrive mode when they pulled off a deal with the New York Knicks to land rising big man, Kristaps Porzingis. Already an All-Star, Porzingis is one of the best young players in the league when fully healthy.

What could cap off this rebuild for Dallas? Well, how about signing a superstar shooting guard in Klay Thompson.  Klay would easily be the best shooter on the roster and would have more freedom to operate with the ball in his hands. This is a winning formula for everyone in Dallas and certainly a solid move for Thompson’s career.
