2. Philadelphia 76ers

Last season, the Philadelphia 76ers fell one fortuitous bounce from Kawhi Leonard short of reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in nearly two decades. With two borderline superstars in Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, the only thing stopping the 76ers from reaching greatness is their young age.

However, one other thing holding the 76ers back is their lack of shooting. Specifically, their lack of someone who can create their own shot from deep. This is where Klay Thompson comes into the picture. A career 41.9 percent 3-point shooter and the man who holds the NBA record for most 3-pointers in a single game (14), Thompson is all the 76ers need to take the next step in their process.

Imagine Thompson running amidst a lineup of Simmons, Embiid and potentially Jimmy Butler or Tobias Harris. This show-stopping roster would have almost no weakness when healthy and would almost certainly be the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference.

Of course, cap space is an issue here. There is no way the 76ers can manage to bring in Klay without him taking a significant pay cut. So even though this could be the perfect landing spot for him basketball-wise, the money might hold him back from making the jump to Philly.
