The Golden State Warriors can sign-and-trade Kevin Durant, and if they do, a third team may come into play.

For Kevin Durant, if he wants to leave, doing a sign-and-trade involving the Golden State Warriors and the team that he may prefer is a very realistic possibility. Durant would be able to get over $50 million more and an extra year from Golden State.

Obviously, his contract would extend to whatever team he’s dealt to. That extra year is pivotal in any trade talks. Given that he’ll be out a full year, any team that’d trade for Durant has a year to prepare for his return.

Whether he returns to his former self or not may matter if you surround him with elite talent. He’ll return to a top-20 player, that’s almost a guarantee. Add another superstar to Durant’s new team and you have an instant championship contender.

Durant averaged 34 points per game in the first 11 games of the postseason. He was on a tear. Many, prior to his injury, considered him the best in the game. Now, teams have an open path to snag that superstar.

That said, let’s look into five three-team trade for Kevin Durant that could become very real in the next few months. As of now, we know the Dubs are intrigued by a sign-and-trade with the Knicks, but other teams should be options for Durantula as well.
