Let’s break this down real quick. The Cavaliers dish out Kevin Love and get Jarrett Allen and a first-round pick in return. That’s a big-time win for them given Love’s injury history and his long-term contract.

The Nets get Durant. They do have to give up beloved prospect Allen and three-point specialist Joe Harris. AND they relinquish two first-round picks. This trade is definitely an attempt to go all-in for the Nets, but if they attract Kyrie Irving, the pairing could make the future irrelevant.

For Golden State, there really isn’t much more you can ask for.

You get a former All-Star that’s still a great contributor and you get a three-point specialist. When Thompson returns, they’d have one of the league’s best three-point shooting lineups. The future first-round pick also helps sweeten the pot for Golden State.

This entire deal rests on the Nets, but if they think it’ll get them a true shot at the Larry O’Brien trophy, I have a tough time seeing them turn it down. The addition of Durant pushes them over the top in an ever-improving Eastern Conference.
