Retain Durant and Klay

Following the 2019 NBA Finals, owner Joe Lacob, who has a net worth of over $3 billion, said that he plans to offer both Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant long-term max contracts. That said, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them both re-sign.

The Warriors would have a chance in the 2020 playoffs, but if the team is like the one that competed against Toronto, I wouldn’t expect them to make a sixth-straight Finals. But, with Durant’s return then on the horizon, the dynasty could continue.

The Warriors would then have at least three years of dominance left in them before their Big 4 exits their prime in quick succession.

Durant averaged 26.0 points per game on 52% shooting this past season. Tack on a career-high 5.9 assists, and it’s obvious that his production would be hard to supplement for a season without bringing in high-value outsiders.

That’s the same with Klay, who averaged 21.5 points and 3.1 threes along with being one of the league’s best two-way players. Their play can’t be reproduced by anyone, and retaining both of them is the most ideal offseason scenario.
