Golden State Warriors: 4 Mistakes they need to address this off season
Offensive rebounding
The Warriors’ defensive rebounding was surprisingly solid last year despite lacking a true center for much of the season. They were third in the league, gobbling up 36.5 defensive boards per game.
On the other end of the court, the Warriors struggled to grab offensive boards. They finished 21st in the league with 9.7 per game.
With Durant and Thompson down for most or all next year (if they retain them), the Warriors will inevitably struggle to make up for the 47.5 combined points per game that they provided. Getting offensive boards and creating more opportunities — getting up more shots than your opponent — is a good way to start to address this disparity.
McKinnie and Looney, if resigned, will both likely play bigger roles next year. Both have proven to be excellent on the offensive glass and could help the team improve in this category.
Second round draft pick Paschall, if he gets minutes, seems like another guy who could crash the glass. Time will tell.
