Golden State Warriors: Ranking the team’s top 25 options in free agency
Kevon Looney
If the NBA Finals showed us anything, it is that Kevon Looney has more heart than a lot of other players in the league.
While he has never been viewed as a star talent, Looney showed everyone how valuable he can be. He uses his size and athleticism to be an effective rim runner. He can block shots and rebound the ball while also showing great finishing around the rim when it’s time for him to shoot.
Leading up to the NBA Finals, Looney was averaging 7. 5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game on 72.5 percent shooting. He impacted the game in small but pivotal bursts of production and would have been huge in the Finals had he not been injured twice.
The Warriors will need to resign Looney if they want to be competitive again next year. With few reliable options remaining at the center position, they need to value what Looney is capable of giving them while they still can.
