Rudy Gay

If the Warriors lose Kevin Durant, they’ll need to replace his production. There are very, very few players in the NBA that come even close to matching Durant’s production and physicality. Rudy Gay is one of them.

Gay made $10 million last season in San Antonio. While it’s likely he constructs a deal similarly, it’s possible that he could head elsewhere, and if Durant chooses to walk, Gay should become a priority target for Golden State.

His 13.7 points per game last season were actually on the lower end of his scoring throughout his 13-year career. However, that doesn’t mean that Gay isn’t still at the top of his game. He ended the year shooting a career-high 50.4% from the field.

He also shot 40% from downtown. The Warriors need efficiency more than production, and Gay would give them that. Outside of the free agents on their team, Gay should be their top target, and he should at least hear a call if Durant heads elsewhere.
