Kevin Durant

In the 11 games Kevin Durant played prior to his calf injury in the 2019 postseason, he averaged over 34 points per game. Averaging over 26 per game during the regular season, Durant proved to be one of the most valuable players in the entire league.

While his scoring numbers were among the best in the league, his assists numbers were also at a terrific level, dishing out 5.9 assists per game which were a career high for the four-time scoring champion.

That said, Durant is going to get a max. Although he’s out all of next season, he’ll return a 31-year-old with several prime seasons left. Teams like Brooklyn, Los Angeles (Clippers), and the Knicks are all contenders for the former MVP.

Durant getting back to the level he was this postseason is the fear of every team that’ll allow their future to rest in his hands. If he wants a four-year max or if he wants Golden State’s five-year max and then a sign-and-trade, giving him that is almost automatic.

However, he can still re-sign. Many believe the Warriors’ Finals loss actually bode well for them re-signing Durant as he can claim he has “unfinished business” in the Bay. Durant is a priority target and will have the option at any team for any amount of money he chooses.
