Golden State Warriors: Ranking the team’s top 25 options in free agency
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Betting on himself, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope took a one-year deal to play in Los Angeles alongside LeBron James. He thrived in that role, scoring 11.4 points per game. KCP also totaled three performances of 30 or more points.
One of those three was an outing where the five-year veteran drilled eight threes. He drained at least four threes in 15 games. He had the opportunity with LeBron James, and he did well. But, he didn’t do enough to get a high-value, long-term contract.
That said, Caldwell-Pope made $12 million this past season. He must lower that to at least the MLE for the Warriors to be even a slight bit interested. He’d be a nice Klay Thompson replacement, but the Warriors must do better.
Caldwell-Pope is a good player, but he’ll be a last resort for that coveted MLE.
