Golden State Warriors: Ranking the team’s top 25 options in free agency
Trevor Ariza
Trevor Ariza is a better version of Caldwell-Pope.
He can’t really score on his own, but he is a viable three-point shooting threat and can attack off the dribble when necessary. The aging forward may want a chance to win at the highest level, and if so, Golden State can give him that.
After leaving Houston, Ariza signed a $15 million one-year deal with Phoenix and was eventually traded to Washington. Ariza will be a free agent this offseason, and the mid-level exception seems like a perfect fit for him.
With Washington, Ariza averaged 14.1 points per game during his 43-game stretch. He also averaged 2.2 threes per game, and while a capable shooter, he’s not the elite-level three-point shooter that Thompson has proven to be.
At 6-foot-8, Ariza combines the traits of Durant and Thompson, given the height of Durant and keeping above-average three-point shooting. That being said, Ariza would be a great addition, but they need him to take a cut to play in the Bay.
