Golden State Warriors: Ranking the team’s top 25 options in free agency
Al-Farouq Aminu
The Golden State Warriors have to not only replace Thompson and Durant’s offense, but they must find a player to help them on the defensive end as well. That’s why Al-Farouq Aminu has a top-20 spot on our rankings.
After a down season, Aminu is likely to take a minimum or MLE this offseason. Now a free agent, Aminu was one of the many players that Portland overpaid. He’s made around $7 million each season for the last four years.
With Golden State, Aminu would be making just over $5 million, and he’d be one of their last options for the MLE. However, he’s a more realistic option that Danny Green or Taj Gibson, players likely to sign an eight-figure contract.
Aminu averaged 9.4 points per game last season on just over 43% from the field. A respectable three-point shooter, Aminu’s length and size along with his shooting are what should attract the Dubs. I wouldn’t bank on him signing in Golden State though.
