Bringing the recent drama to a boiling point, Andre Iguodala claims the Golden State Warriors medical team cleared him to play on a fractured leg last season.

The Golden State Warriors medical staff has been under heavy scrutiny lately. After Kevin Durant tore his Achilles only 12 minutes into his return, all eyes were on the medical team that cleared him to play. Now, the controversy has hit its peak with Andre Iguodala spilling more beans.

In a recent interview with the breakfast club, Iggy claims the Warriors medical staff cleared him to play on a fractured leg. This occurred in the 2018 Western Conference Finals when Iggy missed a few games versus the Houston Rockets. Iguodala states that the Dubs medical team was calling it a bone bruise, but Iggy was certain he had a broken bone.

Andre goes on to discuss the never-ending pressure from fans and his own teammates to return quickly from an injury. He alludes to the idea of “toughening it out”, stating that if you don’t play through an injury you are then deemed “not tough”.

All of this, of course, ties back into the current situation with KD. There is no doubt he was feeling a ton of pressure to return to the court and help his team who had fallen down 3-1 in the NBA Finals without him.

According to a few reports, Steve Kerr himself claims he was told by the medical staff that Durant was at no risk of further injuring his leg. This was obviously a misjudgment as KD suffered one of the most devastating injuries an NBA player can endure.

Was it simply an error by the medical staff, or a fluke injury that couldn’t have been predicted? In the worst case scenario, was the Dubs medical team being pressured to clear KD by the front office? Warriors GM, Bob Meyers, certainly appeared extremely remorseful for Durant’s injury in the post-game press conference after the incident.

This situation is a truly puzzling one and we may never get a clear answer. Regardless, the Warriors must do everything they can to right this wrong before free agency begins and they face losing Durant forever.
