2. New York Knicks

Unlike the rest of the teams on this list, the New York Knicks have done just about nothing to build a team worthy of competing for a championship. Finishing with the worst record in the league last season, this team is more than one signing away from being elite.

Mitchell Robinson, Frank Ntilikina, Dennis Smith Jr. and Kevin Knox make up the young core of the Knicks. Of these four, only Robinson and Smith appear to have any real potential with Knox and Ntilikina having underwhelming seasons.

Regardless, the Knicks still have the advantage of being in one of the most exciting cities in the world. Combine this with cap space to sign multiple max players and it’s possible Kevin Durant could be on his way.

Even if no other star joins Durant in his trip to New York, this could still be a possibility. Saving basketball in New York is something that no star has done in many years and if he accomplished it, KD would be crowned a hero. This type of reputation cleansing is exactly what Durant wants after his public perception took a major hit when he joined the Warriors.
