In a shocking turn of events, the Golden State Warriors have completed a sign-and-trade for Nets’ point guard D’Angelo Russell.

Tip of the hat to Bob Myers. He absolutely knocked this trade out of the park, keeping the Golden State Warriors relevant for at least the next four years.

While the trade has been confirmed by multiple sources, the overall trade has yet to be fully reported. This is what the most recent update looks like, helping add backcourt depth to the Warriors.

This has been an insane 24 hours for the NBA. After securing Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan, the Nets have made a power move and traded away D’Angelo Russell who was expected to sign with the Wolves.

Bob Myers has now successfully put the Warriors back at the top of the Western Conference again after teams questioned whether or not they’d even make the playoffs with Klay Thompson out most of the season. However, they’ve ultimately make their 2020 Finals chances even better.

If Durant was going to return to Golden State, the Warriors were almost forfeiting next season, waiting for Durant to get healthy. However, with Russell, they become instant title contenders.

Russell hasn’t always been efficient, which was his problem in LA. However, with Brooklyn, he notched career highs in just about every notable stat. He averaged 21.1 points, 7.9 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game last season.

However, for Russell, his 43.4% from the field and 36.9% from three was what ultimately impressed the league and apparently put the Warriors on notice. Russell, who averaged 2.9 threes per game, was the perfect addition for the Dubs.

This trade should add depth to the Dubs while also helping them fill out their roster. They’re taking on a few players that were at the bottom of Brooklyn’s roster yet should still be able to contribute to some extent.
