Dewayne Dedmon — Update: Expected to sign with Kings

There aren’t many players in the free agency pool that I’d consider perfect fits for Golden State. Dewayne Dedmon is one of them.

Dedmon wouldn’t be needed if the Warriors re-sign Kevon Looney. They play a very similar game. Both are big, lengthy centers that can convert from the mid-range yet specialize in making high-energy plays and dominating the glass.

Averaging a career-high 10.8 points per game last season, Dedmon showed an ability to step out and shoot from deep as well, making 1.3 threes per game on 38% from deep. A better three-point shooter than both Boogie and Looney, Dedmon could help stretch the floor which is highly coveted skills amount frontcourt players.

That said, two years ago Dedmon signed a $14 million contract. Now, he’s set to test the market again. That $7 to $10 million range would be what Dedmon could get, but if he joins Golden State, it’d be for the MLE which would be a decent contract for both parties.
