Danny Green

The reverse Patrick McCaw, Danny Green could go from beating the Warriors to being on the Warriors. This is only likely if his close friend Kawhi Leonard leaves Toronto in pursuit of a larger city like Los Angeles.

More from Blue Man Hoop

Green, who hasn’t always been the most efficient from downtown, cooked Golden State in the 2019 NBA Finals. He averaged 2.0 threes per game during the series, one of which was six-three performance. Green shot over 45% from deep this past season.

He won’t score in bunches nor will he be a team’s best scoring option, but he is a talented three-point shooter than can defend the best guards in the league. His ability to play both ends of the court makes him a quality free agent target.

Green’s eight-figure annual contract just expired and, although he’d be a perfect fit as well, won’t be worth the high-value contract he’ll get from either Toronto or another potential suitor. The Warriors need value, and Green doesn’t bring that.

Because of who is he and what he can do, he should be on their radar if he’s looking to leave Toronto, but I wouldn’t bank on it. That why a solid option like Danny Green doesn’t quite break the top-15 on our free agents option for the Golden State Warriors.
