2019 NBA Free Agency Tracker: Ranking the Golden State Warriors top 30 options
DeMarcus Cousins
Some team will overpay for former All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins. That’s why bringing him back will be a challenge, but if he’s willing to take the taxpayer mid-level exception, the Warriors would have to give him it.
Cousins averaged 16.3 points per game as a Warrior last season. During the playoffs, while his playmaking did help the Warriors win a few games, his defensive ineptitude was on full effect in just about every appearance.
Targeting Cousins on defense is just too easy. However, a full offseason of conditioning and rehabbing both his previously ruptured Achilles and partially torn quad should make Cousins a bit more dependable on the defensive end.
The only team that has reportedly been eyeing Cousins is the New York Knicks. If they swing and miss on Irving and Durant, they’ll potentially turn their attention towards Cousins. Does Cousins really want to go back to a losing atmosphere though?
