2019 NBA Free Agency Tracker: Ranking the Golden State Warriors top 30 options
Kevin Durant – Update: Durant turned down GS max, will sign w/ BKN
The Golden State Warriors are playing to offer the 5-year, $221 million max contract to Kevin Durant at the start of free agency. This contract will throw the Warriors into unprecedented ground, giving them possibly the highest salary of any team in NBA history.
Durant deserves it though. Prior to his first calf injury in the 2019 postseason, he was averaging over 34 points per game. He dropped a 50-point performance on the Los Angeles Clippers to end the Warriors’ first-round series.
This was a major part of Durant’s success, but the regular season and how dominant Durant was during that time can’t be forgotten. He scored over 26 per game, but what most impressive about Durant’s season was the 5.9 assists that he averaged.
KD is expected to have meetings and take offers from the Clippers, Knicks and Nets. A sign-and-trade has also been a rumored possibility for the league’s four-time scoring champ and former MVP.
