Robert Covington + Tyus Jones

I know what you’re thinking. Why did we trade for Russell just to get Robert Covington?

Well, many casual fans and those that love the glamor of the game don’t realize the important of a defensive mastermind like Robert Covington.

The Warriors would go from starting Curry, Russell, Thompson, Green and Looney – an average defensive lineup – to one of Curry, Thompson (back in his natural position), Covington, Green and Looney- a top-tier defensive lineup. with the offensive firepower already, the Warriors need defensive help.

An elite three-point threat, Covington averaged 14.5 points per game last season for Minnesota, hitting 2.5 threes per game. Barely skimming eight figures on a contract that’s good for almost half a decade, Covington would be a steal.

Then, you add on Jones to replace the production lost by Quinn Cook after he eventually exits. This deal would be a massive win for Golden State and allow Minnesota the point guard they wanted all along.
