Fit

The Golden State Warriors have been all about fit over the last few seasons. While many questioned how the team would flow with Kevin Durant, it proved to be a success. The same may be able to be said of Russell.

However, given their needs, Russell doesn’t seem like a great fit. He’s a ball-dominant guard. The Warriors have two players that are highly efficient. Do the Dubs really want Russell chucking up a three when they have Thompson and Curry?

There are aspects of Russell’s game that flow well. His ability to get in the lane and draw multiple defenders is one of many. But, at the same time, the Warriors have players that can do that. What the Warriors don’t have is an efficient catch-and-shoot big man.

That’s Kevin Love.

Although Love is one a max contract, it does decrease for the final season so the Warriors can hopefully re-sign Thompson to a high contract with the additional space. Regardless of contract situations, Love’s ability to catch-and-shoot is a huge reason the Warriors should target him.
