The window is closing, get help now

The Golden State Warriors championship window is closing.

With Curry at 31 and both Klay and Draymond into their high 20s, the drop off will be within the next half a decade. While the Warriors can prepare for that with Russell, they may succumb to other teams in their quest for championships.

A better fit in the frontcourt for this upcoming season, the addition of Love could give the Warriors a chance at a title now. However, they may re-think that if Kawhi Leonard ends up signing in Los Angeles, giving them arguably the best Big 3 of all time.

In a sticky situation, the Warriors must prepare for next season but also think about what all of centuries third decades holds. What will this team look like in 2025? Is aiming for that more important than winning now? If so, keep Russell.

Every team eventually goes into a rebuild. There are few teams that year-after-year are elite, and unless the Warriors want to do their best to keep their team above average for the long-term, they’ll trade for fit instead of future.
