The 2019 NBA Free Agency period has been great for the Golden State Warriors who have signed a few players to replace Klay Thompson.

Heading into the summer, the Golden State Warriors knew they would have to find a temporary replacement for their All-Star shooting guard, Klay Thompson. So far, the Dubs have done an incredible job at acquiring wing talent to make up for Klay’s absence.

Obviously, the Warriors are not looking to replace Klay forever. The max contract they just gave Thompson clearly indicates that he will be with the franchise for a long time. However, due to the ACL injury he suffered in the NBA Finals, it was important the Dubs looked to find suitable wings to fill in for Klay.

The Warriors kicked off free agency doing just that. When Kevin Durant announced he was joining the Brooklyn Nets, the Dubs got right to work in orchestrating a sign-and-trade deal to bring D’Angelo Russell to the team.

Russell is by no means as good of a shooter or defender as Thompson, but his steady offensive production and elite play making ability make him an interesting fit next to Curry. At the very least, the 21-year-old All-Star guard should do enough to keep the ship afloat while Klay nurtures his knee.

This move alone would have put the Warriors in good standing. However, a recent acquisition have once again put the Dubs over the top. Signing Alec Burks is a major win for the Warriors. Burks last season showed his talent as a versatile wing scorer and an athletic defender. Averaging 11.6 points and 5.5 rebounds in 34 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Burks is going to bring some insane depth to this team.

When Klay returns to the court, he will reclaim his spot as a starter. This means the Dubs potentially have a second unit made up of D-Lo and Burks. This extra depth will go a long way in helping the Warriors compete for a championship this year.
