Players knew about the Durant signing long before we did

When Durant declared that he was going to become a Warrior in the summer of 2016, it sent shockwaves throughout the NBA.

No one, including myself, thought that there was a remote chance the Warriors could land Durant.

However, Iguodala makes it seem like the Warriors had an idea that he was coming long before we did.

"I had been hearing rumors about our team acquiring Kevin Durant since the midpoint of the prior season (2014-2015). It’s not uncommon for a player to know a lot more about these pending deals than the press does. Most of us know better than to share what we hear from the staff with members of the media, but the conversations were definitely happening… we were definitely hearing whispers around the organization that they were going to try to make something happen. So Kevin Durant to the Warriors was not a far-fetched idea for any of us when the 2016 season was over…"

Apparently, the news that “ruined the NBA” in July of 2016, news that surprised the hell out of most of us, was not so shocking for Iguodala and the Warriors.
