The Golden State Warriors have had a solid free agency period, but they should be looking to fill in these two positions.

Depth is as important as ever in the NBA. With the era of superteams coming to an abrupt end, the Golden State Warriors will need to load up at each position to remain competitive. Right now, their largest area of concern is to find a suitable replacement for the point guard and power forward positions in the second unit.

See, Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors did more than just bring Canada it’s first NBA Championship. Their victory resonated with the entire league, proving once and for all that a team with depth is much tougher than a top-heavy star-studded roster.

With this title came a massive change in the NBA universe. Starting with Kevin Durant‘s decision to join the Brooklyn Nets and capsizing with the Oklahoma City Thunder trading Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers to team up with Leonard, the NBA is now more wide open than ever before.

In this new era of duo’s and depth, the Warriors find themselves in a good position. As one of the last remaining teams with potentially four All-Stars (D’Angelo Russell, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Curry), the Dubs have an opportunity to combine star power with depth.

Right now, the Warriors are doing a solid job of creating depth at each position. Let’s take a look at their projected depth chart for the 2019-20 NBA season:

An important thing to note is that D-Lo could potentially become the backup point guard once Klay Thompson returns, but he could also play alongside the splash brothers, moving Thompson to the forward position. This obviously skews the depth charts a bit, but still, a remaining issue is their lack of depth at both the one and four positions.

Curry and Green are obviously great to have, but with no other guards to replace Curry and a lack of talent in place of Green could come back to bite them. We witnessed how quick a few injuries can derail this team and it would be in their best interest to load up in each position.
